The best way to transition into fall (and now we have transitioned fully) is with coloured pants. I know that coloured pants are more and more mainstream now, but I love thinking of them as neutrals.
Today’s Photographer… I have NO idea. It’s been a bit of a month.
Blues Brothers Style
Something about the hat, the shoes, and the matching socks just reminds me of the Blues Bros. It also reminds me of a good outfit.
Still getting through some of these final summer style posts… that said, it’s been so warm here over the last few weeks, it still sort of feels summery. This shirt never fails to get me compliments. It’s such a great statement piece, despite the fact that I found it on the sale rack at Urban Outfitters. And paired with this beautiful vintage bag—perfection.
Today’s Photographer: Megan, I’m pretty sure. She knows what she’s doing.
More from the last days of summer, spent in beautiful Stratford, Ontario. This jacket (while not a regular) is a perfect statement piece for a night out at the theatre. And generally, wearing something this noticeable is awesome. This jacket was custom made for me in Shanghai, and I couldn’t be happier with the results.
Today’s Photographer: Liz, our lovely host is Stratford.
Plaid in Stratford
Labour Day Weekend marks the end of the summer, and we spent it in Stratford checking out a ton of great theatre at the Stratford Festival. And then I wore nice outfits because the theatre is worth dressing up for. So we took some photos.
Today’s Photographer: Liz, the magnificent.
Frank and Oak Style: Cranberry Cool
I love this outfit. Coloured pants were the star of the summer this year, but I think they can transition into fall when paired with more muted shades. However, this outfit still rings true of the summer.
I love the vintage bag that I busted out for this one—it’s not one that I get out very often (because it’s always on the verge of falling apart), but it’s a beautiful pairing to these pants from Frank and Oak.
Today’s Photographer: Cassy, who makes me look better than I should.
Frank and Oak Fashion: Chambray Style
First of all—I hate these sandals, but I broke my toe so my options were limited for a few weeks. I love chambray (especially in blue) because it really goes with everything. The Frank and Oak fit was awesome (and I’m normally skeptical of online shopping because of the fit) and I’m thrilled with the shirt. It shall become the staple that it was meant to be.
I’m also particularly proud of this post because I’m standing beside a banner of me at Theatre Passe Muraille, where they’re producing my play in January. You should come. Seriously. It’s what I do when I’m not taking photos of myself—write plays.
Today’s Photographer: Megan, who wanted to re-create the banner pic so bad here. So successfully.
Late in the summer, there was a huge sale at Toronto vintage outlet—Public Butter—and I did really well. This perfect bag, and this amazing embroidered shirt were ridiculously cheap. Paired with a Goorin Bros. hat and it’s a perfect summer outfit.
Today’s Photographer: the self-timer on my camera
As summer winds down, I’m thrilled to share one of the most exciting parts of my summer with you. These high-rise, cropped, patterned wonders were a purchase made while I was in Tokyo in June. The moment I saw them, I knew that they were coming home with me. While they’re certainly not an everyday garment, they’re pretty amazing. Hence—Japants.
The bag was a thrifty find in Shanghai at the Tanzifang markets. Another world traveller…
Today’s Photographer: Rebecca—I’m pretty sure.
Sometimes in the heat of the summer, you still need to bust out a jacket—just because the outfit needs completion. And you deal with the sweat, and you deal with the heat because it’s worth it.
Today’s Photographer: Katie, who snapped these on our way to lunch a couple of weeks ago.
