Forever Red

It’s always an exciting day when red pants are worn. Always. But that day can be made even better when the red-pant-outfit becomes immortalized in photos. This day was also the day of our work photo shoot. So check, check…

Not only do I get to wear red pants, but everyone who receives a copy of next year’s season brochure will get to see them as well. Yes, I feel the narcissism of that statement. Just now though.

Today’s Photographer: Cassy… I’m 80% sure it was Cassy.

Red Pants: The Sequel

The last time I posted these pants (which was also the first time that I had worn them), I received more re-blogs and likes than ever before. Which I suppose makes sense, given the awesomeness of the pants. So who knows what’ll happen this time as I think this is an even better use of them…

Either way, I put together this bright outfit to defend myself against the dull, dreary, rainy day. I was thankful for the rain because it took the humidity out of the air, but ultimately, it didn’t make for a very fun day overall.

  • Trench: H&M
  • Shirt: Gap
  • Belt: Zara
  • Jeans: Zara
  • Shoes: Fred Perry, via Little Burgundy
  • Bag: Vintage, via Brooklyn Flea Market

Today’s Photographer: The wonderful Emily, who used to do these photos regularly, but then moved far far away. She was back for a visit, and didn’t disappoint with yet another FANTASTIC photoset.

Cucumber Sandwiches

Last Sunday I was invited to a “high tea”. With cucumber sandwiches, scones and delightful teacups in mind, I opted for a contemporary twist on English poshery. In other words, I gave a nod to a style which I cannot afford to have by wearing a bowtie and brightly-coloured jacket. Either way, I was happy with my sartorial decision, and it was a great excuse to get just a little bit dressed up. Nothing crazy, but I rarely bust out dress pants in my day job, so here we go I guess. I will say that this outfit represents almost all of my most-visited mall stores for cheap buys. It’s rare for me to wear an outfit without one vintage piece, especially when the style is so vintage, but I’m okay with it.

  • Jacket: H&M
  • Shirt: RW & Co.
  • Bow-tie: Tommy
  • Vest: Topman, NYC
  • Belt: Winners
  • Pants: Zara
  • Shoes: French Connection

Today’s Photographer: Kirsten, who managed to catch these photos right before the rain began.

Red Red Jacket

Apparently I only know how to exist in opposites. One day I’m obsessed with green, and today it’s red. It feels so rudimentary. Tomorrow I will attempt to return to a time when I wore more than one colour at a time. Sheesh.

This outfit came together surprisingly this morning. I love this jacket and am constantly in search of new ways to wear it (beyond a black or white shirt option). As soon as you have something as intense as a red jacket, you have to be careful to offset it with more neutral clothing partners. Or maybe I’m just limiting myself. Today I pulled out the red plaid, and though it’s a bit matchy-matchy, I think the end result was pretty successful… if I do say so myself.

  • Shirt: Ben Sherman, from GRUV (in Stratford)
  • Jacket: H&M
  • Belt: Vintage (from my dad’s closet)
  • Jeans: H&M
  • Shoes: Century 21, NYC (but I think I saw them at the Aldo Liquidation in Toronto too)

Today’s Photographer: Karen, my work colleague and eager-to-be-a-photographer friend. Or maybe I just ask her all the time. Thanks for not saying no, Karen!
